Today I wanted to try drawing an animal in the Sumi-e style. I pulled out my books for inspiration but quickly became discouraged so started from the beginning and did the first exercise from one of my books – fish.

This reminded me that I really love sumi-e. When I took a drawing class at UCSC I was really inspired by this style more than any other. I think this is an itch I need to scratch.
