PINAC

Today I thought I’d paint the pinhole camera that I used earlier that day. Pinhole photography is my other hobby, and probably the one I love the best. Not probably, IS the one I love the best. It is easy and fun and It makes me feel good. Sketching and painting are the hobbies that…

Bananas 🍌

I thought I’d keep going with simple one subject still lifes. I am calling this “deconstructed bananas.”

Getting there? #30by30DirectWatercolor2018 day 9

It’s far from perfect but for the first time this week I feel like I kind of (ever so slightly) understand this Direct Watercolor technique. Obviously I have a long way to go, but at the very least I don’t hate the process! I kind of like it, in fact. 🙂 Today I think I…

#30by30DirectWatercolor2018 Day 5

Today I used a photo as a reference to paint from. I thought about the Direct watercolor technique and saw this tree on my run and thought it might be interesting to try to paint. I liked the contrast of the pink flowers against the leaves, so I snapped a photo. It’s not perfect but…

#30by30directwatercolor2018 day 4

The brain critic is strong. I hope that in 30 days I can look back and see progress! Watercolor in general confounds me but I’m determined to learn.

#30x30DirectWatercolor2018 challenge day 1

Art supplies

Still having fun with the kraft paper notebook! Here are a couple of days worth of quick sketches.

A memory

I was having trouble coming up with something to draw the other day so I decided to do the drawing prompt for the Sketchbook Skool Drawing A Day group. The prompt was Memory and a lot of people were drawing the memory of their first day of school. I remembered an old photo of me on…

My kitchen

This week in Sketchbook Skool, our homework is to spend hours on a detailed sketch. We were instructed to draw our kitchen. So on Sunday I started doing this in 30 minute increments. I finished it on Tuesday morning, and even took the time to scan the image before posting it here! I really,…

Snacks

This week in Sketchbook Skool our assignment was to create a page layout. So I took all week on this page and sketched one snack a day.  I forgot to erase the pencil lines before I snapped a picture! I would love to feel less awkward about lettering. I guess that will come in…

Paint the sky

As I mentioned, I am taking the Beginning Class at Sketchbook Skool and am really liking it a lot. It has finally gotten me back in the habit of sketching everyday, which makes me happy. However, I feel self conciouis about posting my sketches everyday. I think I will post once a week a round…

Mt Jefferson- day 82

It was a beautiful clear day – clear enough to see Mt Jefferson from Timberline Lodge (on Mt Hood). I love the way the mountains lighten in color the further away they are. I thought it would be a great exercise in paint layering.
